Monthly Intentions - a Mindful Practice
Posted by Melissa Ite on 30th Aug 2023
It is so refreshing to embrace a new month. It feels like a clean slate, where you can decide to set new goals, work towards cultivating new habits and intentions.
Intentions will differ based on the person setting them. One thing to note is that your intentions are not a to-do list. They are things you want to accomplish and have given yourself the permission to achieve - so that you can feel whole.
Setting intentions is all about what you need in a particular moment. It is far more structured than operating on auto-pilot or mindlessly going through the day. It is a thoughtful process used to bring you back to the present, regardless of the uncertainties that the day brings. As you navigate your busy day, you can focus on your intentions to keep you grounded.
You can decide to set daily, weekly, monthly or annual intentions - it really is up to you. The beauty about intentions is that, at any moment you can decide to set one and empower yourself to carry it out.
Intentions are something we are already creating in our minds, but putting it down on paper helps us to bring it into focus.
It is important to schedule a time each month to do this practice; when you are free from distractions and able to focus and think clearly. Find somewhere comfortable to sit and use your printed "Monthly Intentions" sheet from the "Self-Care Rituals Guide". (Don't have the Self-Care Rituals Guide? Unlock it here)
The number of intentions you set is entirely up to you. What is important, is that you are able to remember them throughout your day. It is recommended to start small, so that you don't overwhelm yourself. For example, you can set intentions to be more present in conversations or incorporate movement into your day.
Don't be afraid to share your intentions either. Having someone hold you accountable and cheer you on will definitely help you achieve success. And that's what the Roses & Charcoal community is all about.
